Laser Fiber Light Guide
The FLG-SMA fiber light guide is ideal for introducing a focused laser
spot into many experiments, notably onto a sample under observation on a
microscope - without going through the microscope optics. The
2-meter fiber cable has a 600 micron core to maximize coupling efficiency
across a wide range of input powers and wavelengths. It's ideal for
light stimulation, uncaging, and sample ablation. Industry standard
SMA connectors are supplied on the input end of the FLG, and the output
end of the FLG-SMA/2.
The FLG tube contains two aspheric lenses - the input asphere collimated
the divergent output from a fiber input, and the output lens focuses the
light to a diffraction-limited spot 16.8mm from the tip. The tube is
0.375" diameter for easy mounting in a wide variety of micromanipulators,
while the long working distance allows for easy placement next to a
microscope objective. Depending on the input angle, the spot will
have varying ellipticity on the sample.
The FLG-SMA/2, when connected to our
CBH-1, provides a simple connectorized output from a microscope for
coupling to a spectrometer, photon counter, or other connectorized object.
As a standalone item, it can be mounted in our fiber coupler or an optical
mount for free-space coupling applications. Used as an input, it
allows the introduction of a laser source to a microscope, via the
microscope optics, for a variety of applications.
