The FDM-1.0 uses a combination of our precision adjustment screws in the fine adjustment mechanism, resulting in 20μm per revolution on the non-rotating tip with 1.0μm resolution.  18° of rotation yields 1μm of linear travel.  This provides true sub-micron motion in a manual actuator.  Total travel range of the differential section is 0.030-inch [762μm], combined with a coarse travel range of 1.0-inch [25-mm].  The coarse travel section can be locked and has a scale for reading rough location within the 1.0-inch [25-mm] travel.  The larger-than standard adjustment knob improves turning leverage and resolution, even under loads up to 70 pounds.
